DR KHOI TRAN is an ophthalmic surgeon providing expertise in diagnosis, treatment and surgical management of diseases of the vitreous, retina and macula. Born and raised in Queensland, Dr. Tran has a friendly and outgoing persona where his patients feel calm, comfortable and confident that they are receiving expert, individual care.
He has had extensive medical and ophthalmic training throughout Australia and North America.
After initially completing pharmacy and medical degrees at the University of Queensland (UQ), Dr Tran underwent Ophthalmology training at the prestigious Sydney Eye Hospital, where he also gained extensive experience working in regional areas throughout Australia.
Following this, Dr. Tran spent 3 years in North America pursuing Medical and Surgical Retina fellowships in complex vitreoretinal disorders at internationally recognised institutions including the University of British Columbia (UBC), Canada; and Jules Stein Eye Institute, University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Dr. Tran had the additional honour of becoming a faculty member with UBC in Vancouver where he spent more than a year working as a consultant vitreoretinal surgeon in one of the busiest retinal departments in North America.
Dr. Tran is actively involved in research, being principal investigator for several international multicentre clinical trials, a member of the Diabetic Retinopathy Clinical Research (DRCR) Network, and has several publications and textbook contributions.
Being up to date ensures Dr. Tran provides not only the highest standard of care for his patients but also access to the latest innovative advances available.
Dr Tran is dedicated to teaching and thoroughly enjoys training the next generation of doctors and eye specialists through his public hospital appointment at Gold Coast University Hospital.
